The Scientists Laboratory (TSL) is founded by a team of Biomedical Scientists. The Laboratory is led by expert diagnostic Managers, biomedical scientists, Consultant Chemical pathologist and Haematologists who are able to offer advice on a comprehensive suite of blood tests covering all aspects of the blood sciences.

Having regular blood tests enables people to manage their health & wellbeing in a proactive manner by showing the impact of their lifestyle on their overall health. TSL aims to provide a blood testing health check service that is convenient, timely, easy to use and insightful by using the most advanced & proven technologies.

TSL is pioneering finger prick blood testing for monitoring chronic conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

Privacy Policy

The type of personal information we collect

We currently collect and process the following information:

  • Personal identifiers (Full name and Date of Birth)
  • Contact details (Address/ telephone number/email where available)
  • Passport number (for use in travel certificates, where relevant)
  • NHS number (if known and applicable)
  • Ethnicity
  • Gender

How we get the personal information and why we have it

Most of the personal information we process is provided to us directly by you for one of the following reasons:

  • To ensure that the test/s carried out and reports generated have all the necessary information that identifies whom the report belongs to. This information is required to ensure the correct identity and process the specimens.
  • If applicable, we also receive personal information indirectly, from the following sources in the following scenarios:

  • B2B partners whom the customer has expressly provided a consent to and where the customer has procured our services through a third party service provider (This will only be done if an missing information is required in order to generate a test report).
  • We use the information that you have given us for

  • Correct identification for processing their laboratory specimen and to generate a laboratory report that is simple and addresses the needs of customer and only to the extent necessary to allow us to perform the services that the customer has requested from us.
  • We may share this information ONLY with our B2B partners/third party service providers used by customers where the customer is not our direct client.

    Under the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR), the lawful bases we rely on for processing this information are:

    (a) Your consent.

    (b) We have a contractual obligation.

    (c) We have a legal obligation.

    When you purchase a diagnostic testing service from our laboratory or one of our B2B/third party partners, as part of the buying and selling process you are asked to fill out our specimen request form that has been generated to comply with ISO15189 standard 5.4.3. This is the information that is required in order to correctly identify and process your specimen. This form will be considered your expressed consent. We would require to use your name and date of birth in order to process your specimen for correct identification purposes. We would also require your address and email address to send postal/electronic copy of your test report.

How we store your personal information

Your information is securely stored.

Data and information are controlled and managed within the Laboratory by the Management.

The Laboratory operates in accordance with the Management’s control measures for:

  • Data security
  • Electronic passage for data to remote user.
  • Storage, archive and retrieval of records
  • Safe disposal

Access to electronic data is controlled and restricted through individual password security and assigned privilege rights within the laboratory. All electronic data is backed up by the Management IT and stored remotely on secure cloud using Amazon webservices. The Management complies with current national legislation and regulations in relation to data protection including the General Data Protection Regulations (GDPR).

We keep Paper copies – until scanned (Max 3 months) and Electronically – Minimum 1 year. Paper copies are then shredded onsite or offsite by contract to third party company who is ICO registered and GDPR compliant and electronic copies are archived.

Changes to this Privacy Policy

We reserve the right to modify this privacy policy at any time, so please review it frequently. Changes and clarifications will take effect immediately upon their posting on the website. If we make material changes to this policy, we will notify you here that it has been updated, so that you are aware of what information we collect, how we use it, and under what circumstances, if any, we use and/or disclose it. If our store is acquired or merged with another company, your information may be transferred to the new owners so that we may continue to sell products to you.

You are not required to pay any charge for exercising your rights. If you make a request, we have one month to respond to you.
